Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: N. Sugarloaf Mtn. Bethlehem, NH Specimen Size: 11 cm specimen with frosty white hyalite opal on feldspar. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: 421 Notes: This spongy feldspar mass has vugs with cubic fluorite, rhombic siderite, and yellow muscovite balls. |
Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Chickering Mine, Walpole, NH Specimen Size: 4 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer - 2011 Catalog No.: u1335 Notes: |

Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Construction Site, Rt. 101 - Nashua Rd., Bedford, NH Specimen Size: 3.3 cm specimen with milky glaze of hyalite opal. Daylight and SW UV images. Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Mud Pond, Ossipee, NH Specimen Size: 4 mm hyalite mass Field Collected: Bob Wilken Catalog No.: A Bob Wilken specimen and photo Notes: Bob reports this opal is brightly fluorescent. |

Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Johnson Rd. construction site, Bow, NH Specimen Size: 10 mm field of view Field Collected: Paul Young - 2016. Catalog No.: u2304 Notes: This opal is not fluorescent. A smithsonite ID was considered, but no fizz in muriatic acid that would indacate a carbonate mineral such as smithsonite. |
Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Hurricane Mtn. Conway, NH Specimen Size: 10 mm field of view Field Collected: Leroy Grant - early '70's Catalog No.: NC Notes: A voucher specimen for hyalite opal on Hurricane Mtn. A no stacking photo. This hyalite has a bright green fluorescence in SW UV. |

Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Government Pit, Albany, NH Specimen Size: 10 mm field of view, white LED and SW UV views Field Collected: Leroy Grant Catalog No.: Secondary collection Notes: Opal on microcline or milky quartz can be difficult to spot without a UV lamp. |
Species: OPAL var. Hyalite Locality: Red Hill, Moultonboro, NH Specimen Size: 7 mm field of view Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: Notes: This opal is not fluorescent, like most is. Red hill is a silica poor environment - no quartz, but the syenite, a Si mineral, weathers easily, so likely a source for this opal. A voucher specimen for Red Hill. |
